Creation in evolution
One of the evolutions that the Tuscan countryside has undergone is the rebirth of familiar abandoned farmsteads into luxurious short or long stay apartments. The structures, some little more than than a windproof out-house used to store chickens or grain, have been changed into the most exclusive and desired after places from which to take a vacation in the Tuscan region. The modifications in the countryside materialized for 2 reasons: first due that local farms were incapable to meet the demands for produce from an ever thriving population, and 2nd, that the farmers were unable to compete on price with the larger and more centralized distribution companies (a similar change took place in the UK with the procession of Supermarkets in the early 1990s, the only difference being unfortunately that English farmers did not have the same guarantee of sunshine like the Italian’s did, on which to build a future). As the big processing plants took over food distribution, the Tuscan farmers were left pondering on how to make it to the end of the week, and Luxury holiday accommodation was born.
